The genius thing that we did was....
Over and over again, I have run up against 2 common things that stand in the way of success.
- Never getting started... Oh the excuses I can find to not get started! I finally took a lesson from an old mentor of mine. :-)
"He that is good for making excuses
is seldom good for anything else."
~ Benjamin Franklin
2. Never Ever Give Up! No! No! No! - There is no risk to great to have the life you have always dreamed of. You never know what blessings the LORD has in store for you if you quit before to get to them!
"Never give up. You only get one life. Go for it!" ~ Richard E. Grant
When I started my weight loss journey, I was so fed-up with where I was in my life and I was scared that my life would never ever have any quality in my life again. At 318 pounds on oxygen 24/7, diabetic, RA, Fibromyalgia, COPD, Gout, PAD plaguing my life. I was afraid that the only memory my grandchildren would have of me was as a fat grandma - who was wheezing too much to be understood. I was taking Morphine and hydrocodone and still in pain. I am a 4 time cancer survivor. I have been a fighter all my life, but just getting out of 2 hospitals after a month and a half in and gaining 26 pounds in my hospital stays - I was feeling pretty hopeless. My life consisted of the wheelchair, easy chair and bed. My medications were about $1000 a month and without help from the church we would have been dead in the water. Now if ever I had reason to give excuses it would have been then. However Benjamin Franklin was asking me to rate myself. My son Johnathan was helping me find solutions - then I read something that really turned my life around and set me on the right path.
"You can dance in the storm. Don't wait for the rain to be over before because it might take too long. You can can do it now. Wherever you are, right now, you can start, right now; this very moment." ~ Israelmore Ayivor
I thought to myself I can either do this or wish I had done it all my life. I do not KNOW that I can be successful. However I have a belief that
"Success comes to those who seek it!"
The hardest part of getting started is not setting goals - any dreamer can set goals. It is deciding you are actually going to do it and then follow through! Success is found in the daily processes that get you from where you are to where you want to be!
"Success is not obtained overnight. It comes in installments; you get a little bit today, a little bit tomorrow until the whole package is given out. The day you procrastinate, you lose that day's success."
~ Israelmore Ayivor
Sadly if you have too many days of procrastinating - quitting seems like a natural consequence. So do not stop because as they say - "An object in motion tends to stay in motion!" Get into action and stay in action! Daily Focused Action steps soon lead to success. Just keep focusing and keep it real!
"No one will ever blame you for trying to get it right." ~ Lori Myers
Just keep trying every day and keep focusing on the action steps that keep you going forward - don't waste your time on doing busy things. The power to say NO! Is a super power! Each day I ask myself - What things on my agenda are going to make a difference in a year or in 5 years. Those things are my top priority.
"The genius thing that we did was getting started without delay and never ever giving up!" ~ Lu Swart
